What the Guide is
The Castle Grey Guide combines two functions. The first is discovery: it points toward music worth experiencing. The second is listening education: it teaches how to listen with care. Context, etiquette, pairings. It publishes only what it recommends, and stays silent about the rest.
How it relates to Castle Grey Studios
The Guide shares brand identity with Castle Grey Studios but is editorially and operationally independent. Separate voice, deliberately slower cadence. The studio promotes; the Guide illuminates. Those are not the same act.
The editorial approach
Each entry begins with independent, repeated listening. Two or more editors live with the work over weeks, minimum three full listens each, keeping separate notes until their observations are complete. Then the findings are compared. Where editors converge, that's evidence. Where they diverge, someone listens again. Nothing is settled by vote.
The result is a field guide, not a review. Inclusion itself is the recommendation. Nothing is published on a schedule, and nothing carries a publication date.
